Throughout the years, Liberty Insurance Berhad has seen several transformations and it began in 1977 where the company was first established as Southeast Asia Insurance, focusing on motor insurance. Following DRB-HICOM’s acquisition of a majority share in 1995 and UOB coming on board as a shareholder in 2002, the company expanded its scope of expertise to cover motor insurance and bancassurance. It was then renamed Uni.Asia General Insurance in 2003.
The change of name to Liberty Insurance Berhad follows the completion of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group’s acquisition of the majority share from Uni.Asia Capital Sdn. Bhd. in July 2014 - through its subsidiary Liberty Seguros.

It is a MYEG Insurance partner and a Bancassurance partner of United Overseas Bank. This network is supported by the team at its Kuala Lumpur headquarters.
